Dog Leash Biting
Some dogs will bite and chew on their leash. This can be rather irritating to the dog owner. However, never pull, tug or yank the leash out of your dog’s mouth. This will either cause your dog to think you are playing and it becomes a game, or they can create physical harm to your dog. One way of deterring your dog from biting or chewing on the leash is by using deterence breaks.
Bitter apple or citronella are harmless and especially unpleasant-smelling to dogs. Not only can they be used to deter or your dog from biting or chewing on a leash but they can also be used to deter them from chewing on other objects. Remember puppies are going to be naturally driven to chew on anything and everything.

Spraying objects and items you do not want them to chew on his helpful. However remember they do need things to chew on. Lots of different chew toys and safe chew sticks etc. should be provided for them to relieve their strong urges to chew.
You will have to test a variety of different toys to see what your puppy or dog loves best to chew on. Some dogs really love the Kong toy. You can stick tiny morsels and tidbits in the toys to provide both entertainment and chewing fun for your pet.
There are some chew sticks and chew toys that should be avoided. I don’t know why they are on the market. But I highly advise against offering a chew toy that can be chewed down two a point where if swallowed can become lodged in the dog or puppy’s throat.
What many people do when using these types of chew sticks is to simply keep denying on the links of this stick and discard it when it becomes too small.

I’m happy this was helpful for you. One thing that I hate to see is when owners will yank the leash out of the dogs mouth. I hope this helps many others find positive solutions to sometimes annoying habbits.
You provided some interesting points on dog leash chewing as well as leash chewing prevention strategies. Leash chewing can have a very serious, yet dangerous outcome on those involved. Not only could this behavior (leash chewing) lead to a pet escaping, but it could also lead to a potential choking hazard.
I agree that pulling the leash out of the dog’s mouth is not a good idea. If it is a young or older dog, you could even pull their teeth out or do some other injury.
I think this information will help people solve this common problem in a manor that is not threatening to the dog’s health and safety.
I’ve owned several boxer dogs and I’ve spent a lot of time applying various boxer training techniques and the one that actually worked was praising my boxer.

Just be sure to replace your hands and figures with toys and proper chews. Don’t give your puppy any attention when she/he won’t take the toys instead of biting. I like the show “It’s me or the dog” on animal planet. Helpful for all sorts of dog issues.
Well, I don’t have time to watch videos online really. But youtube has plenty of funny dog videos to watch when you’re bored or need a good laugh.
