Exercising your dog on a daily basis is one of the best and most successful ways of keeping your dog from developing all kinds of bad unwanted behavior problems. If possible take your dog for a daily walk of at least an hour. If you’re not used to walking start your walks out with just a few minutes and gradually increase your time as each day passes.
Years ago I developed some serious chronic pain and I could not walk for more than a few minutes before becoming overwhelmed with back pain. So one summer what I did was I started walking two minutes in one direction and turning around and walking back knowing it was only 2 minutes to get home. My first walk was only four minutes long. And even though it was only four minutes it was painful.
However over the next three weeks I was able to increase my daily walk until it was at 20 minutes per day. Three years later I am now walking every day for 1 1/2 hours. So, if you have a dog and you really find it difficult to go on a daily walk because of some issue like pain as I had, if it’s at all possible (talk to your doctor) see if you can start your walks just a few minutes per day. You will be amazed at what health benefits you reap as well as your wonderful dog.
Now let’s get back to the dog. Okay wait, let’s talk about us first. Every night most of us will end up watching TV for a few hours before we go to bed. Or perhaps some of you may want to read before you go to bed. I only start this paragraph out by saying that because I want to avoid the argument that you do not have any time. Everyone can make time to take their dog on a walk everyday.

If you watch TV, cut TV out in order to take that walk. Whatever it is you do that is not work, if it is leisure time, then you have time to take your dog for a walk every day. You may be exhausted from work, but believe me the benefits of walking daily will amaze you. Giving you MORE energy over time.
Okay, so we were talking about dog separation anxiety. The fact is that if you take your dog for a walk every morning before you go to work, your dog will have had plenty of exercise and entertainment to start his day off. This may be all he needs in order to feel less discomfort while you are away.
You can also take your dog for a walk when you get home. If you are a woman you may find it encouraging to note that statistically speaking, they say that you can cut down your risk of cancer by 45% if you walk 45 minutes a day. There are so many benefits for both dog and human when it comes to daily walks I just can’t stress it enough.
If you have a dog park nearby, and walking for a half an hour to an hour a day is difficult for you, take the dog to the park. There are wonderful throwing toys that you can use to toss a tennis ball at a distance to give your dog a great deal of exercise over a period of just 15 to 20 minutes. And the great thing about dog parks is there are other dogs that your dog can associate with and have some fun social time with other members of his species.
I know I say this a lot but I am not a professional trainer I only have my own personal experiences to go by, and things that I have learned from what I have read. So I highly encourage you to check out the Kingdom of Pets step by step training program. So simple, yet absolutely beautiful results.
