I find this factor of dog training quite intriguing simply because communicating with animals has always interested me. It truly is amazing how we as humans can communicate with dogs and other animals.

Communications Through Voice Tone

Believe it or not, the voice tone of a human has a lot to do with the reaction your dog is going to give off. It all depends on how high or low your tone is. It is important to limit our voice commands to something that has a single syllable, such as “No.” Instead of using long syllables that can be confusing to the dog.

How We Communicate Our Approval

Dogs really like rewards. Some rewards you can give involve tasty food, physical touch, praise, toy time or just flat out attention. Whatever you do, you need to do something that makes the dog feel accepted by you.

Using Hand Signals a Highly Effective System of Communication

Have you ever noticed just how observant dogs can be? They can spot any movement out of the corner of their eye, especially when it is at a distance and they do so very acutely. When they are close up, they have poor site when comparing it to human site. Training your dog with hand signals is a great idea. These hand signals are great if the dog is at a distance from you. Some of the more common dog obedience hand signals are that of the stay, down, sit, stand and come.

Remember that your four legged friends are attention seekers and you should always have time set aside for the pet. Dogs love their owners and want very much to please them. They are indeed very loyal pets. When they lick you or crawl up on your lap for attention, that is them telling you how much they love you and want to be loved back.

Some of these “love” communication signals and behaviors we receive from our dogs are not always wanted. It is up to us to teach our dogs what type of communication is acceptable and what is not.
